"City Growth" collection, Red Coat, 2018.
Recycled Textile, Knits.
On View: June 13, 2018 - January 2018.
City Growth by Dana Cohen is her first sustainable fashion collection that is for sale.
It brings an innovative approach to ecological fabric manufacturing.
Cohen developed a procedure in which discarded knits are shredded into monochromatic fibers that are then felted into a recycled textile.
This metamorphosis is illustrated by integrating the new knit with the recycled textile.
In terms of colors and textures, the collection is inspired by the massive city growth, the overtaking and marginalization of agricultural plots by processes of urbanization. As the daughter of a farmer who experienced this process firsthand she wanted to share this phenomenon and used NASA aerial photographs that reveal the changes on the ground.
Cohen's collections are designed to push the recycling agenda forward and to question the common perception that recycled products are not attractive or valuable.
City Growth collection was shown in Tel Aviv Fashion Week- March 2018 and in Vietnam International Fashion Week- April 2018.
